Angoves Long Row Sauvignon Blanc

Winery: Angoves Wines

REGION: South Australia, 2010

VITICULTURE & WINEMAKING:

The grapes for this wine were sourced from the Angove family vineyards and premium growers in the cool Wrattonbully region of the Limestone Coast. Soils are predominantly red sandy loam over limestone, on gently undulating east west ridges.

An ideal vintage with some good rain events and improved inflows into the Murray Darling basin allowed vines to be well tended during the growing season. A short heat spike in November lead to some irregular flowering and set and subsequently reduced yield. The remainder of the growing period was excellent with abundant sunshine for ripening, yet cool nights to help retain flavour and natural acidity.

Picked early to take advantage of the cool season and accentuate the herbaceous aromas of the Sauvignon Blanc, the grapes sourced from our own vineyards and growers in Wrattonbully, were macerated for a short period on skins before being gently pressed. Cool fermentation using yeast selected to liberate aromatics produced a lovely crisp fresh wine which has lots of moreish flavour.

Colour Pale straw with attractive green hues.

Aroma Herbaceous and tropical characters leap from the glass with some lime and lemon aromas following.

Palate Clean crisp flavours of tropical fruits abound with some light gooseberry/herbaceous notes and a long full clean finish.

Best enjoyed in its youth this vibrant wine is the perfect partner to spicy Asian dishes or grilled fish.
