Region:
Angoves Long Row Verdelho
Winery: Angoves Wines
REGION: South Australia,
Vintage : 2010
VITICULTURE & WINEMAKING:
The grapes for this wine were sourced from premium growers in the Riverland region. Soils are predominantly red sandy loam over limestone, on gently undulating east west ridges.
Produced from an almost a perfect vintage that had some early rain and good inflows into the Murray Darling system allowing vines to be watered adequately during the growing season. A short hot period in November lead to some irregular flowering and set and subsequently reduced yield. The rest of the growing period was excellent, lots of sun for ripening, yet cool nights to retain freshness and flavour.
Picked late at night to harvest the grapes as cold as possible the grapes were transported to the winery and pressed using modern membrane tank presses. After cold settling the clear juice was carefully racked to cooled fermentation tanks and inoculated with selected yeasts. Cool fermentation was followed by minimal handling filtration and bottling at the Angove Estate.
Colour Medium straw colour with some distinguished green hues.
Aroma: Aromas of ripe tropical fruits mingled with some kiwi fruit dominate the nose.
Palate On the palate flavours of ripe exotic fruit, pineapples, lychee and passionfruit abound with a good length and soft clean finish.
Food Match Enjoy this wine with a variety of dishes from white fleshed seafood, oysters and goats cheese through to light meats such as chicken, pork or veal.
